Around 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
